Community Support
We truly value the relationships we have built over the years. To show our appreciation and give back to the communities we cherish so dearly, we set time aside to volunteer and make a difference. We are honored to be active members of the Kyle, Buda, Blanco and Bulverde Spring Branch Chambers of Commerce and proudly give our support to other community organizations, such as For the Love of GO! and the Fredericksburg Nimitz Rotary Club. We are also proud to offer discounts on services to senior citizens and veterans as a way to express our gratitude.

Veteran Project
Ninety-eight year old Blanco resident, WWII veteran and former Blanco City Inspector Gerald Dowdy’s 1944 home was in need of some hefty repairs. When they reached out to local veteran-owned general contractor Steel Horse Constructors, LLC to help, Founding Partner Jim “Blu” Cooke knew that they needed to find a way to assist.
After visiting the Dowdy home and assessing the full scope of necessary repairs, it was apparent that the bathroom was the first project to be addressed. Blu & the Steel Horse family of partners worked to create a plan for making the bathroom safe, accessible & ADA-compliant.
With cost being an issue, SHC began reaching out to trusted contacts in the industry and were able to obtain a personal donation from Lowe’s Regional Manager Steve Root, a custom vanity donated by Chris White of Kyle, countertop by STI Granite & Marble of San Antonio, flooring by Carpets Design of San Marcos, & the remaining materials and labor were provided by SHC.
A new Swanstone shower system was installed, complete with grab bars, a shower seat & Pulse ShowerSpas shower fixture. SHC installed open shelving for ease of access, installed a new vanity & countertop and rebuilt a wall along with replacing the old plumbing.
Steel Horse Constructors, LLC was honored to have the opportunity to renovate this special citizen’s home and offer the family a much safer and more comfortable bathroom.
